How to Easily Add a Successful Listing on Etsy

Lady at laptop with words that say "How to Easily Add Listings on Etsy"

Hi! I’m Hailee and in this blog post, I am going to show you, step-by-step, how I add listings to my Etsy Shop! Believe me, it’s a super simple process! Follow along with me as I add a brand new listing, a pair of earrings, to my Etsy Shop!

***Please note: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. This means that if you purchase from any of the affiliate links, I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This really helps me out and I thank you if you make a purchase!

And with that, let’s get started! On to Step 1!

Step 1. Add pictures of your listing

Once you have the product that you are going to sell, you want to take pictures of it! Etsy allows up to 10 pictures for every listing, and I recommend taking advantage of that and adding as many pictures as possible!

With this particular pair of earrings, I didn’t take as many pictures as I should’ve. Usually, I try to do the full 10, and I strongly recommend you try to do the same thing! Here are the pictures that I took of the earrings that I am adding to my shop:

This is what it looks like after I add all of my pictures to the listing.

I would recommend using all of the tips that Etsy gives you when taking your photos. Things like using natural light, showing the item being modeled, etc.

Step 2. Add listing details

After you add your photos to the listing, you will want to fill out some listing details. Add a title, a category, and other info such as who made the listing and what it is.

Once you choose a category, there will likely be more information you can fill out that is specific to the category you chose. Usually, most, if not all, of this information is optional, but I recommend filling out as much of it as possible. This way potential buyers will know more details about the item that they may consider purchasing. Hopefully, that will help them feel more comfortable about purchasing your product.

After you add the more specific details, you will add other types of information like your listing’s renewal options, whether it is a physical or digital product and your item’s description. If it applies to you, you can also add production partners.

This next part is all optional, but I highly recommend filling it out, especially adding tags. According to Etsy, tags are words that someone might “use to search for your listings”. You can add up to 13, and usually, I try to add all that I can.

If you want this listing to appear in a specific section of your shop, you can do that here. You can also add the materials that your product is made out of as well.

Step 3. Pricing

Okay, the next thing you will want to do is price your item. If you need a guide on how to price your product in a way that is fair for both you and your customer, click here!

This is the part where you also add the quantity (how many of this item you have in stock) and a Store Keeping Unit (SKU) if you want to. You can also add your product’s variations, if you have any, here as well.

Step 4. Shipping details

Next, you are going to add shipping options to your listing. As you can see, I have specific shipping options that I have set up, but you can also manually add the weight and dimensions of your product so that the shipping price is exact for each buyer.

And lastly, you will review the shipping price and the total price that your customers will pay. If you are satisfied with everything, then you can go ahead and publish your listing! Remember that you will be charged a $0.20 listing fee every time you publish a listing.

As you can see, because I have an Etsy Ads campaign set up, I have the option to start advertising this listing right away. That is why you see the “Marketing” section here.

And that is about it! Super easy, right?
