Interview With an Inspirational 7th Grader (AKA My Little Sister)

Interview with an Inspiring 7th Grader

Hi, everyone! Today, I have a different sort of post planned. Last year, then again this year, my little sister started a Christian club for other middle schoolers. I thought that it would be cool to do an interview with her so she can share with us all how she started her club. Let’s get started!

Let’s get started!

Question #1

Can you start introducing yourself?

“Helloooooooo! My name is Hannah! I am Hailee (the owner of this blog’s) sister! I am 13 years old and in 7th grade. A few of my hobbies are singing, dancing, acting (basically anything that has to do with musical theater). I also love to knit and, of course, hang out with my sister!”

Question #2

When did you first create your Christian club? Tell us about the process.

“First, I just want to give you a little backstory on the club. So, I first got the idea to start it about a year ago, I was in 6th grade and it was right before we went on our Christmas break. In my social studies class we were watching ‘The Prince of Egypt’ because we had recently learned about Christianity in that class.

During the movie, everyone was just being so disrespectful. They were talking the whole time and making fun of it, which hurt because it was what I had grown up learning about. I just wanted everyone to really take it seriously because while they might not believe it, I know it’s true. So, then I decided that some people really don’t understand Christianity. That’s when I decided to create the club.”

Question #3

Can you tell us a bit about your club?

“Here’s the schedule that we follow.

(We only have a short amount of time because we have the club during lunch.)

12:05 PM: We do one song for worship

12:10 PM: We start our lesson

12:20 PM: We have discussion time

12:25 PM: We do one more song for worship

12:28 PM: We pray and we’re done!

We meet every Tuesday during lunch. The lessons we have been going through are just the beginning of the Bible and I’m just going to start skipping around so that I can tell the Christmas story and the Easter story.”

Question #4

How did you find the courage to create your club?

“Honestly, starting and going through with this club has been really scary. As a middle schooler and teen in general, it’s normal to worry what people think about you, but when you do something really different like this is terrifying.

Luckily, I have such supportive friends to help me with it and encourage me. Plus, there is of course always the encouragement that you are changing someone’s life by sharing God’s word!”

Question #5

How many people usually attend your club? Are you ever discouraged when there isn’t very many?

“Our average for people coming last year was about 14. This year, though since we just started, we have only had an average of about 7 or 8. I am still so glad that some people are coming, because it makes me feel encouraged that some people are still learning about God.

It does sometimes feel discouraging when you don’t have many people coming, but like I said, at least some people are coming!”

Question #6

Is there any advice that you want to give to anyone who is looking to start their own Christian club?

“Lastly, some advice that I have for anyone that might be interested in starting their own club, is that some people may think it’s ridiculous, but just remember “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.” (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Keep up the great work and the blessings will flow! I know they have in my life!”

What did you think?

Wow! Thanks for sharing, Hannah!
